Trevor Tanser originally trained as an architectural joiner and cabinet maker. A self-taught artist, Trevor was founder member of Peterborough Arts Workshop and also taught art and design at Peterborough Regional College and the City Colleges of Chicago in the UK.

Trevor Tanser described his work as 'as journey of exploration and discovery' and he brought to it his excitement of combining ideas and memories with his love of materials.

Trevor Tanser and his wife, the artist Catherine Headley, were awarded a residency in the artists’ retreat at Cill Rialaig on the West Coast of Ireland in 2005 which inspired a number of works. Trevor Tanser was elected to membership of Leicester Society of Artists in 2007 where he has regularly contributed to both annual and themed exhibitions.
