Come and join Rita and make new friends as you learn to paint  using watercolours.  This course is suitable for beginners.

The theme for this term is taken from the current exhibition at the Royal Academy, Painting the Modern Garden: Manet to Matisse, which runs until 20th April 2016.  If you are unable to visit the Royal Academy, there is also a live screening of the exhibition at the Phoenix in Leicester on Tuesday 12 April at 7.30pm.

What’s in a garden? The title can be interpreted in different ways. You may be interested in wildlife, painting flowers, looking close up on things, times of day and how the light affects the surroundings, a view through a window, an imaginary garden. How other artists depicted the environment, including other well-known artists exhibiting at the Royal Academy.
Topics to be considered:
• Using colour/composition
• Different ways to create texture
• Painting out of doors (weather permitting)
• Gardens from other cultures/History
• Still life studies, Artists who paint flowers
• Elements within a garden – ponds, furniture, etc.
