My work is fairly expressionistic, though I do not consciously align myself with any movement or style. I am mostly driven by simple responses to the objective world -whatever that is! - a world that of course includes the painting I am working on at any given time. I am fascinated by the underlying philosophy that my world and your world are intrinsically different, yet we can still agree, disagree, and share observations.
On a good day, when all planets are correctly aligned, my painting of a bird will have 'bird' qualities, along with something from inside me, and various representational and abstract qualities actualised by the looking and painting process. I always feel a sense of collaboration with the painting, which itself provides tangible pointers and clues as to what marks I should make next.
