Jill Hailes is known for her exhuberant use of colour, and her loose expressive markmaking in watercolour, pastels and acrylics. Jill has travelled extensively and much of her works is inspired by visits to in India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Russia, Turkey, Greece Portugal and Cornwall.

Jill Hailes trained in Fashion Design at Leicester College of Art and exhibits her paintings in London, Suffolk and the Midlands. She is a Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and exhibits with.the Leicester Sketch Club and the Leicestershire Pastel Society. Her work has been purchased by Leicester City Council and is held in private collections in the UK, USA, Belgium, France, Germany, Gibraltar and Hong Kong. Jill has held three solo shows in Leicester and her work is well known internationally from fine art prints published by The Poster Gallery, Munich, and greetings cards published by The Medici Society.

Jill Hailes work has appeared on the front page of the 'Artist' magazine, and at the Pastel Society Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. Most recently, in 2013 she won the Henton Ellis prize at LSA Annual Exhibition 2013.
