Jo McChesney graduated from Bath Academy of Art in 1985, specializing in illustration. It was here that she first experimented with handmade paper and print, later building on these themes for her MA in printed textiles.

After working as an illustrator and part time lecturer, she travelled to Kyoto, Japan to study the traditional technique of woodblock printing. Since returning to the UK she has continued to work with woodblock prints. Her work draws upon the natural world, and focuses on fleeting moments in time such as ripples on water, rain, light and shadow on woodlands trees.

Jo McChesney's recent work is based on seeds, especially dandelions, observing how they silently explode, sucked into the void, carried by air currents, evoking the continual change and flux of new life.

She has exhibited twice at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
