Drawing on his computer, David first creates an assemblage from his watercolour paintings, charcoal drawings and photographs. Using new technology he deconstructs and minimalises his artwork to investigate the spaces and tensions between the shapes he creates.
At first impression, David's artworks are stark graphic abstracts. Impactfully coloured shapes, simple and flat, stand out strongly, rubbing shoulders, jostling for attention and fighting for space in the composition.
Look again and natural forms emerge - rocky outcrops, horizon lines and landscape. These clean and distilled images have underlying tension conveying the fierce competition for space occurring in the environment.
