My work is driven by my love of gardens and plants, which has been my main source of inspiration for well over a decade.
Although my work is often highly realistic in approach, and I record my subject matter mainly through photography, my compositions are often formed by the amalgamation of several images, sometimes from the same time/day and sometimes weeks apart.
When painting I deliberately use a very limited palette to achieve the variety of colours that I observe and enjoy the challenge that presents, especially within each chromatic range within the work.
My textile work brings together elements of collage, painting, printmaking and stitch to create and explore surface texture and recent printmaking work has explored making silk aquatint collographs, combining them with linocut overlays.
