If you have already submitted an application form  -  our Applications Day is on Saturday 4th September 2021 at Attenborough Arts Centre, Lancaster Road Leicester. More details are being emailed to the address you provided on the application form.

General Information

You may apply for membership of Leicester Society of Artists if you live, work or study in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland, or if you have strong connections to this area.

How to apply for membership

1. Fill in the Application Form which appears on this page when applications are open (the next date is in summer 2022).

2. You will receive an email from us confirming that your application has been received. Please allow up to 2 hours for this to arrive.

3.  You are not required to submit digital images of your work

4.  On Applications Day you will need to bring your work to the Main Hall at Attenborough Arts Centre, Lancaster Road, Leicester, and collect it the same day.

On Applications Day, you are required to submit FOUR ORIGINAL WORKS in support of your application for membership, which will be considered by the LSA Council. These FOUR works must be of an equally high standard, and be well presented, suitable for an exhibition. They must have been created within the last three years.  Reproductions may not be substituted for the original works.

We accept most media, including paintings, drawings, all types of printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, glass, ceramics, textiles, photography. Please note, however, that at present we are unable to include works that require an electricity supply in our exhibitions.

As well as your four original works, you may also submit a sketchbook (optional), a short CV and/or an artist's statement (optional) and up to four preliminary studies (optional).

You will need to pick up your work later the same day. The result of your application will be notified by email.

Information for successful applicants in 2021

If you are successful in your application for membership, we will send you details about our forthcoming Annual Exhibition 2021 at Newarke Houses Museum (7-31 October 2021).  You will have an extended deadline of Friday 17th September to complete and return your entry form to the LSA Exhibitions Officer, to enable to you to take part.  Please note the size allowance and number of works allowed are restricted in this exhibition, see here
