I am a Leicester-based artist exploring printmaking, painting, mixed media and the use of sketchbooks. In this body of work I have explored the monstera deliciosa plant leaf and its fenestrations . I am interested in curved lines, and the juxtaposition of geometric shapes with a vibrant colour palette. I find constant inspiration from my garden, nature and an array of house plants. Plants have always been in my life and are a major source of therapy. As a visual artist I am interested in the emotion my work provokes. Exploring the cheese plant and its curvaceous leaves has led me to experiment with different mediums and find comfort in muscle memory by recreating images until a joyful aesthetic is created.
I studied at the University of Leeds gaining a BA Hons in surface pattern. I work full time as a special needs teacher and am currently supporting an art residency using the Reggio Emilio approach which has inspired me enormously to enjoy the process of making art. I am a member of Leicester Urban sketchers and Sketchbook circle, collaborating with other national artists and sharing the joy of creativity.
