Alan Hopwood initially trained as a skilled craftsman before going to University to gain a BA Hons and a Masters Degree in fine art. Following twelve years as a lecturer in fine art, Alan returned to his primary passion of painting and he now exhibits in galleries around the country. His painting 'Low Tide Across St Austell Bay' won the Chair's Prize at LSA Annual Exhibition 2017.
Drawing influences from the varied cities and landscapes of the UK, Alan uses traditional painting techniques and digital manipulation to explore and express human emotions and states of mind. The diverse imagery also opens a debate around social environments and diversity.
Final artworks come as mixed media paintings on canvas, works on paper or Giclée digital prints.
