The annual Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Friends Exhibition provides a platform for Friends at different stages of their practice to display artwork at the RBSA Gallery, while also acknowledging the importance of Friends to the Society.

Friends have been part of the RBSA since the 1900s and the RBSA was one of the first art societies to give subscribers their own exhibition. Many former Friends have progressed to become Associates or Members and have been elected as Council Members, who help shape the Society’s future.

"A beautiful and melancholic work. This sculpture conveys the muscular quality of the bird’s body as it flows over the rock on which it has come to rest. The positioning of the head and neck clearly communicate the bird’s exhaustion, and the choice and treatment of materials creates an impression of life residing within this piece.”
