My work reflects my personal journey; a testament to the power of art as a coping mechanism for chronic pain. Having lived with arthritis for most of my life, I have found comfort in the meditative process of creating art. The tactile experience of drawing provides a grounding counterpoint to the often overwhelming nature of chronic pain and allows some sense of easement.

Originally working in sketchbooks, I transferred the techniques and skills to digital mediums such as Adobe Photoshop and Fresco, eventually creating digital portraits using traditional linocut print techniques, building up layers to create a finished piece. I like the juxtaposition of traditional and modern, including AI to generate imaginary people as subjects. These digital portraits are born from a desire to explore the boundaries of perception, exploring how we judge others. I encourage viewers to imagine the subject's potential life story; the stories are unique to each viewer. Using AI to generate faces that do not exist in the real world forces the viewer to impose their expectations onto the portraits. These imagined individuals become vessels for storytelling, allowing viewers to project their hopes, dreams, and fears onto them. Through their eyes, I invite viewers to consider their own place in the world and how we are all connected.
