King Street South - charcoal

Reflection - oil

Tide Pool - oil
I paint primarily in oils but enjoy experimenting with a range of media. My paintings are representative of places or objects with which I have a personal connection and I find myself drawn to what is just around the corner or the negative spaces in a composition.
My charcoal drawings focus on the urban landscape. I set out to evoke a sense of place and the stories that happen in these scenes, looking for incidental moments in a 'documentary' style rather than faithful reproductions of individuals.
I studied Graphic Design at Leeds polytechnic, back when they were a thing, before training as a teacher and spending over 30 years teaching in Leicestershire.
